“I never thought I’d be able to stay motivated long enough to make a meaningful change to my health.”

Motivation is a tricky beast.

You want to get healthy, but it’s so daunting that you don’t even know where to start.

You wish your clothes fit better, but you can’t find the time or energy to do something about it. Work, relationships, and life are so overwhelming that you wonder how anyone can keep up.

There are so many changes you want to make, but you viciously second guess yourself as soon as you take the first step.

“Am I doing this right?”

“Will this even work?”

“Why is it so hard for me?”

Looking in the mirror is like staring into the abyss. You can feel the motivation drain out of you as all you see is everything you’re not doing.

You’re left shaking your head, wondering why.

This is the beginning.

Every good story starts here, full of uncertainty, doubt, and pain. This is your challenge that you must overcome. Everyone has their own obstacles and each one of us must climb our own mountain. It’s all part of the narrative that is human life.

If there is no struggle there is no story.

So before you get down on yourself remember that you’re not alone and almost everyone has been in your exact situation at one point in their life.

I don’t blame you. People only want to share their most attractive side on social media. If you only looked at the internet, you’d be convinced that ultra-fit is now the new norm.

Well… it’s not.

The reality is that most people don’t even exercise, so if your goal is to become the fittest person on Instagram then our gym is not for you. We focus our effort on real people with jobs, families, and busy lives.

Sorry insta-fit models, you already have enough attention.

Our gym is for normal people and we like to promote stories about overcoming your insecurities and living a better life because of it. We need more people talking about their real journey, not movie stars with unlimited time and a personal chef. More stories about regular people who are adding exercise and eating healthier and it’s making a huge impact on their lives.

I’m talking real life changes, like those of our clients who have:

Strengthened their shoulders and now don’t get crippling headaches every day.

Improved their flexibility and their chronic back pain has vanished.

Cut out junk food and have earned a raise at work because their brain fog is gone.

We crave the kind of stories about people who have improved their quality of life and are going to enjoy an extra decade because of it.

And you can help by setting an example for your friends and family. You can embark on a fitness journey with an inspiring ending.

You’ve never been to a gym like Element Athletic

Element Athletic is for you, the complete beginner that is ready to change their health and their life for the better.

It’s not for your typical gym rat who wants a six pack. This is for people at the end of their rope and have no idea where to start.

We show you proper exercise technique.

We teach you how to eat for your body type.

We keep you accountable every single day.

Every step of the way, we’ll be there answering your questions, no matter how silly you might think they are. (I guarantee your “stupid” questions have been asked a million times)

It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve tried before, this time will be different.

Norma lost 14lbs and dropped 4 inches from her waist!

“I have to be honest – I was kind of dreading doing this challenge. I have tried weight loss programs before without much success because I usually give up after a few weeks.

But doing the challenge with the whole gym was a different experience. There was a built in support system and people that I was accountable to, so it made sticking to the program so much easier than doing it on my own – it was great to know that I wasn’t the only person saying “no” to the tasty treats people keep bringing to the office!

Plus, Steve was always available to answer my nutrition questions and offer encouragement – I actually reached out to him for some emotional support on a few occasions and he never let me down! I ended up having a great experience and I am really happy with my results.”

Jess lost 9lbs and is stronger than ever!

“This challenge was great for me because it helped me figure out what my body needs food and workout-wise. It opened my eye to the fact that it’s not that hard to balance the two while maintaining a satisfying relationship with food AND looking BOMB.

Once you flip the switch and decide to put in place healthy eating habits (alongside three workouts a week), having a treat is actually okay and there is in fact room for it. It doesn’t always have to be iced with guilt!

Finishing the challenge gave me a tremendously satisfying sense of success. My abs are shredded. My arms look nice and buff as I jump rope and I can KILL 50 double-unders in a row.

The key to this program was definitely the fun workouts at Element and the support of everyone else doing the transformation at the same time. I love our crew.

Luke lost 25lbs and can’t believe how much energy he has!

“Before coming to Element, I would get tired just walking up the stairs. Everyday it was becoming more obvious that I needed to lose weight and get back in shape.

After I lost 25lbs, I couldn’t believe how much more energy I had. I’m an electrician by trade so I’m on my feet all day and it blew my mind how much easier it was to just move around.

Honestly, the hardest part was getting started, I sat around for about a week before I actually committed to the challenge. But once I got started, it was easy to follow. It was still a lot of work but the emails laid it out clearly so you can just follow the plan.

The biggest thing I realized is that it’s not so much of a big change but a bunch of small ones. Now that I prepare my food ahead of time, it’s such a stress reliever because I don’t have to think about what I’m going to eat.

“My life is really busy but I feel like the lack of exercise makes me more tired than I need to be.”

What it would feel like to “figure it all out” — to wave a magic wand and all of the sudden have the time and energy you dream about.

You wake up and know exactly what you’re going to eat that day. In fact, it’s already prepared so you literally spend zero thought on it.

You have a workout planned and you know you’re going to feel great while doing it and when you check yourself out in the mirror afterwards.

You sit down to eat KNOWING that what you’re doing will actually get you to your goals.

You love your routine and you can see yourself moving towards your goals — in health and in life — each and every single day.

No! The only person you should be competing with is your previous self. There are no winners and no losers, only people improving their lives and loving it.

Well, you gotta keep working out! When the 6 weeks are up, your membership will be converted to Unlimited Kettlebell Classes for $165/month.

What if I want to do the program again?

Why wouldn’t you! Most people are going to need longer than 6 weeks to reach their goal weight, that’s why we’ll let you join our future transformations for free as long as you’re still a member of Element Athletic.

Even if this is a bad time for you to change your diet, it’s never too early to start learning how to be healthier. The 6 weeks is not about rushing you, it’s about laying a framework you can build on for the rest of your life.

Cindy did 3 back to back Transformations and lost 19 pounds over 5 months!

“Before joining Element Athletic, my main source of exercise was running. I was running several half marathons a year, but I still wasn’t losing any weight. I was starting to think that, as a woman in my mid-forties, I was just going to have to learn to live with my excess belly weight and chubby arms.

Then a friend of mine recommended that I try out Element Athletic. I was hesitant at first, as I’d seen videos of super ripped looking people making chin ups look effortless, while I, on the other hand, can only do push ups from my knees. I put off trying out the gym for awhile, as I was worried that I wouldn’t fit in.

When I finally got the courage to give Element a try, I was relieved to discover that the gym caters to people of all fitness levels. The trainers, Levi and Steve, made me feel welcome from the beginning. They pay attention to everyone in class, providing feedback on form, and congratulating you when they see improvement. The other clients are friendly and encouraging as well.

My weight loss really kicked into high gear when I joined the 6 week Transformation Program. I managed to drop 11 pounds in 6 weeks and I was thrilled with my results. I was feeling comfortable with my new way of eating and really enjoyed the workouts so when the second Transformation Program opened up I thought, “why not? Let’s keep it going.”

I was excited to continue because I’d finally found a way to lose weight without ever feeling deprived. I’m still able to go out with friends and have a few drinks, as long as I stick to the plan most of the time.

I’ve now done 3 Programs in a row and I’ve lost a little over 19lbs total. It’s been almost a year since I first got up the courage to try out Element Athletic, and I can honestly say that I wish I’d done it sooner. Since that time, I’ve dropped a total of 25 pounds and have gone from a size 10 to a size 4 in most dresses and pants. I still can’t do an unassisted to chin-up to save my life, but I am definitely feeling ‘stronger every day’.

Jeff lost 16lbs and dropped 3 pant sizes!

Before the transformation I was lost! I was working out regularly, getting adequate sleep and eating healthy foods but I wasn’t getting the results I was looking for. I felt strong but always had a “spare tire”. I was aware of sayings like “You can’t out-exercise a bad diet” or “Abs are made in the kitchen” but I just didn’t seem to get it!

Then I started the transformation. I set goals, followed the program that was laid out in the regular emails and I started tracking everything I ate with the MyFitnessPal app.
I quickly learned I was getting too much of a good thing, like the handful of almonds in my daily breakfast smoothie that was adding 400 unexpected calories to my waistline every morning! The regular emails were like a map that guided me to my goals and they clearly set daily or weekly objectives that were achievable and kept me working toward the targets I set in the first week.

At the end of the 6 week program, the results were amazing! I
lost 16lbs and dropped 3 pant sizes; I figured out portion sizes and reduced my unintentional overeating; I realized that, with a little planning, a reasonable Friday night dinner with my wife could still include a few glasses of wine without wrecking all the hard work I had done in the rest of the week; I was motivated to spend more time working on my jump rope technique and put in a few extra reps on the chin-up bar; and the structure and support from the whole group at Element helped me maintain my habits, even over the holidays. This program was flexible and fun which made it easy getting to the gym for 6:15am workouts!

“I’m far from being the poster child for group fitness or a transformation challenge. I travel 1-2 times per week for work, I’m often at client lunches or dinners (definitely not eating salad), and my days are always different and change on the fly. In short, I’m usually set up to fail for any fitness program as it’s difficult to meal prep when I’m away so often and I hesitate spending the money for classes when I’m not sure if I’ll be in town.

I tried the “flexible” alternatives:
-The 10 class punch cards for group fitness, thinking I’d easily hit at least 10 classes in the 3 month span. Turns out I don’t like being in a room sweating with 30 other people. Expired every time.

-The online 12 week at home/hotel gym workout plans with nutrition guides and exercises and the social media support communities. I actually got through 24 weeks of one program at one point a few years ago (though it took me 38 weeks)…and subsequently have restarted Week 1, 40 times.

-Running. I’ve been picking up and dropping long-distance running for the last 2 decades and my MO is to sign up for a race, thus forcing myself to train. Without fail, my last run will be race day and then I’ll get inspired to pick up running again roughly 12 months later.

When my husband suggested I join his gym through the Transformation Challenge, I was actually very absorbed by my phone and I said yes without paying attention. So when Steve called me the next morning to discuss the challenge, I had zero idea what the Element Athletic workouts consisted of and already had all of my excuses lined up for why anything nutrition related was going to be a struggle. He suggested just coming in to class that day to check it out and that we were just going to baby step the nutrition part by getting into the practice of tracking.

I definitely wouldn’t call Element group fitness–it’s like personal training and you’ve just split the time and cost with a few friends. The workouts are go at your own level, though you can definitely push yourself to your max if you wanted to. No one’s yelling at you to go faster or harder or heavier, but Steve and Levi are very encouraging when you do want to step it up. The only thing they’re really sticklers about is form and rehab (stretching and foam rolling), which for me, meant that I was actually able to get through the whole 6 weeks, not missing classes due to pulled or strained muscles.

The food side of the transformation ended up being much more straightforward than I imagined it would be. Steve suggests a nutrition plan, but is open to whatever type of diet works for you. I opted for the daily check-in and it took a little while to get used to it, but he was always really clear that he wasn’t here to shame me on my weaker food moments. We made small, gradual changes over the last 4 weeks and the final result that was that I dropped 8lbs…and have kept it off.

Taking part in the Transformation Challenge has been hands down, the best decision I’ve ever made for a healthier lifestyle. Now, on any given day, I have the energy to get up at 5am, hop a flight to Calgary, work the day, return home, and sweat it out at an Element class. I’m actually cooking at home on a regular basis and making balanced meals that I love more than takeout sushi (though I still love love love takeout sushi)…and I still don’t really eat salads! I feel strong and I’ve never been more satisfied with how I look.

I went into this with every excuse in the book, but looking back, it didn’t seem all that hard to get the results I did. Element has trainers with no egos who genuinely want their clients to be healthier versions of themselves. It’s much better value than anything else out there (believe me, I’ve tried them all!) and, honestly, there’s very few things that feel better than trying “your size” pants on and then buying the more appropriate fitting next size down!”
